About PowerPoint Slides

So, you’ve got the website even your grandmother loves, you have killer business cards and letterhead but you still panic when someone asks you to give a PowerPoint presentation. Perhaps it isn’t caused by your fear of public speaking, but rather that your presentation slides don’t reflect the quality and professionalism of the rest of your marketing materials. If this is the case, we can help.

Mouth Media now offers a PowerPoint package.
Based on your existing marketing materials (logo, colours, website etc), we will create a set of PowerPoint slide images for you to use in presentations. View Samples

  • The package includes two sets – one set designed for use when the presentation will be given in a dark room (light text on a dark background) and one set for use in a bright room (dark text on a light background).
  • Each set includes a cover slide and an internal slide.

10 QUICK TIPS TO HELP YOU CREATE A SUCCESSFUL POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

  1. Keep in mind that a good presentation has three elements: the visuals, the content and the delivery. A great presentation addresses each of these items.

  2. The background design should be simple. The content of your presentation is most important and should never take a backseat to your design. Always keep in mind that “less is more”.

  3. Try using hyperlinks to connect content from your presentation to other sources. You can link to other presentations, web pages or documents. (Caution: Test anything you are linking to before you present to make sure the links still work.)

  4. Don’t include everything you are going to say on your slide. People tend to read anything they see on the screen thereby defeating the purpose of an in-person presentation. You may even consider NOT having text at all – perhaps just an image that summarizes what you will be saying. Always remember that what is on the screen is supposed to SUPPORT what you are saying – not replace it.

  5. IF you are going to add animation and slide transitions, don’t use them on every slide. Using them sparingly where you NEED extra emphasis is much more effective.

  6. When selecting images for your presentation, use ones that are the right size and quality. Stretching photos or having photos that are grainy are definite presentation killers. At all costs avoid the built-in clip art.

  7. You need a consistent visual theme throughout your presentation. Built-in templates exist, but they may not blend well with your other marketing materials or worse yet, everyone in the room will have seen them before. A custom designed template for your presentations is a small investment for a big impression.

  8. Keep in mind WHERE you are you presenting? If you’ll be presenting in a dark room, try and use a dark background with light text. Conversely, if you are presenting in a bright room, try for light colours for your background with dark text. If you don’t know where you’ll be presenting? Have two copies of the presentation ready to go - one dark and one light.

  9. Choose your fonts carefully. Don’t use more than two complementary fonts in your presentation – one for copy and one for stand-out items such as headings or sidebars. Also, test the legibility of the fonts and font sizes you use from the back of the room to make sure it is legible even in a large presentation room.

  10. Have a back-up paper copy. You never know when technology will break down and you’ll have to do things the old fashioned way!
